PE

Introduction

At KPHS, the PE curriculum develops students’ physical skills, fitness, and understanding of healthy lifestyles. Students take part in a variety of sports, activities, and practical lessons designed to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. The curriculum encourages students to set goals, challenge themselves, and take pride in their achievements.

Through a carefully planned programme, all students are supported to make progress, develop key skills and enjoy physical activity. By the time they leave KPHS, students are confident, independent learners who understand the importance of health, fitness and teamwork, and are prepared to engage in lifelong physical activity.

How PE Supports Our School Values

We Co-operate
Students develop teamwork and leadership through group activities, coaching, officiating and sports events. They learn to support and encourage others, communicate effectively and work together to achieve shared goals.

We Pioneer
PE challenges students to push themselves, improve their skills and strive for personal bests. Whether in lessons, extra-curricular clubs or theory assessments, students develop resilience, commitment and a mindset for growth.

We Belong
Our curriculum celebrates effort and achievement, ensuring all students feel valued. Through recognition such as awards, peer praise and leadership opportunities, students build confidence, inclusion and a sense of community within sport and beyond.

What our students say…

"When I was completing my coursework for Nutrition and Sports Performance, it gave me an insight into a greater understanding of how nutritional behaviours can be managed to improve sports performance. This has now helped me to have a healthier and more balanced diet at home, as I have a thorough understanding of the nutrients needed in a nutrition plan."

"I really enjoyed the Principles of Training coursework unit. I learnt about how to design, plan and evaluate a fitness training programme. When I leave school, I want to join a gym because I now know how to plan effective fitness sessions."

"When I was being taught the exam unit on Reducing the risk of sports injuries, I learnt so much about different factors which influence the risk and severity of injuries, and also about different medical conditions. I now feel more confident if I needed to help with an injury on a family member or friend.”
