At Kingsway Park High School, we work hard to put in place a range of careers opportunities from year 7 to year 11. To compliment this work we have gathered together the following range of resources to help you and your young person think about and plan for the future.

Considering a sixth form college?

A sixth form college is a place where students aged 16 – 18 can study for academic qualifications that prepare them for university, apprenticeship or employment.  A sixth form college can be attached to a secondary school or stand alone and typically offer A level qualifications, although some also offer a variety of BTEC and T level qualifications.

Local sixth form colleges include:

Rochdale Sixth Form College              www.rochdalesfc.ac.uk

Oldham Sixth Form College                www.osfc.ac.uk

Considering a vocational college?

A vocational college is a place where students from the age of 16 upwards can study for a qualification that prepares them for university, apprenticeship or employment.  Qualifications are typically BTECs or T levels and will prepare students for a specific industry or trade by developing knowledge and practical skills.

Local vocational colleges include:

An apprenticeship is a paid job that offers the opportunity to gain work-place experience and skills, work towards a qualification and receive a wage. An apprentice will typically spend 80% of their time in the workplace and 20% completing classroom-based work with a college or training provider. Students can search and apply for an apprenticeship in a variety of ways, the following are examples of local colleges and training providers that may be able to support you:
