Building Update October 2024
23 October 2024We have successfully moved into our new state of the art "Sissay building" providing access to a world class learning space in the areas of technology, science, computing and history. On completion of this the central building of the school which contained Langspan concrete has been demolished resulting in our students and staff having to transition around the rear profile and extremity of our site throughout the school day. We are incredibly proud of the self regulation of our students to minimise the disruption to their days however we do acknowledge the challenge that this has created and recognise we now have the fittest students and staff in Rochdale. We were all set for the majority of the demolition work to be complete over the half term period however there has been an unforeseen delay meaning that we will gain the canopy area of our site back on Monday 18th November. In terms of the impact of this on students, following this date the use of the Stiups lane entrance to the school site in the morning will stop, with students being expected to enter via the Turf Hill Rd entrance points. They will continue to be expected on site prior to 8:20am for the start of the academic day. We look forward to this time which marks another really important stage of our school improvement journey.
