Year 8 Students Explore the World of Technology at Hopwood Hall College 9 of our Year 8 students attended the MEGAthon at Hopwood Hall College with Tech First, where they took part in an exciting day of hands-on technology challenges designed to showcase the wide range of careers available in the tech industry. Throughout the day, students completed four activities, gaining practical experience in robotics, coding, digital investigation and cybersecurity. • They piloted Sphero Bolt robots through increasingly challenging courses • They coded BBC micro to respond to real-world inputs and outputs • They took on an OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) challenge, using publicly available information to solve intelligence-style questions • They competed in a timed cybersecurity challenge The trip provided students with a valuable insight into real technology careers and helped them understand how skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, resilience and computational thinking are used every day by professionals in the industry. It also gave them the opportunity to use real technology equipment, explore career pathways they may never have considered, and build confidence in their own ability to succeed in the growing digital sector. A fantastic day of learning, discovery and innovation. Well done to all of our students for representing the school so positively and embracing every challenge!

Students and staff enjoyed a range of Eid celebrations ahead of the half-term break, including community games under the canopy, henna, a special Eid-themed lunch menu, Eid Mubarak cards and chocolates, and sweet treats at the coffee station. It was lovely to see everyone embracing the spirit of celebration, reflection, and togetherness. Our Eid decorations will also remain up for the first day back after the holidays to continue the celebrations. Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating — we hope you have a peaceful and joyful Eid! ✨
