Religious Studies

Introduction

At KPHS, the Religious Studies curriculum helps students understand the diverse religious and non-religious worldviews that shape identity, culture and society. Within our rich and vibrant local community, students explore different belief systems, ethical ideas and philosophical questions about purpose, morality and meaning.

Our ambitious and inclusive curriculum develops religious literacy, critical thinking and respectful dialogue. Students learn to ask challenging questions, evaluate different perspectives and express their ideas clearly. By the time they leave KPHS, students have a strong understanding of how faith and worldviews influence individuals and communities, and they are prepared to make informed, thoughtful contributions to a diverse society.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or any part of Religious Studies. Please contact your child's Head of Year in order to request withdrawal for your child.

How Religious Studies Supports Our School Values

We Co-operate
Students engage in respectful discussion and debate, learning to listen carefully and respond thoughtfully to different beliefs and viewpoints. They develop empathy and the skills to work positively across differences.

We Pioneer
Religious Studies encourages curiosity and philosophical enquiry. Students explore complex moral and ethical issues, challenge assumptions and develop independent, critical thinking.

We Belong
Our curriculum creates a safe and inclusive space where all students feel valued. By exploring a wide range of worldviews, students develop understanding, confidence and a strong sense of belonging within their community and the wider world.
