PSHCE

Introduction

At KPHS, the PSHCE curriculum helps students develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to make informed decisions about their health, wellbeing, relationships and future. Students explore a wide range of topics including personal safety, mental health, healthy relationships, financial awareness, and citizenship.

Our curriculum encourages students to take responsibility, think critically, and engage with real-world issues. Through lessons, events and activities, students learn to reflect on their choices, develop resilience, and build confidence. By the time they leave KPHS, students are prepared to make positive decisions, contribute to their communities, and succeed as independent, responsible young people.

How PSHCE Supports Our School Values

We Co-operate
Students work together through discussions, group activities and workshops. They learn to communicate respectfully, support each other, and develop teamwork and collaboration skills in both personal and social contexts.

We Pioneer
The curriculum encourages students to explore new ideas and challenge themselves. Modules such as personal finance, option choices, leadership through the School Council, and Duke of Edinburgh skills allow students to take responsibility for their learning and plan for their futures. Awareness days and events, including Black History Month, Safer Internet Day, and National Careers Week, help students think critically and broaden their perspectives.

We Belong
PSHCE helps students feel included and valued in a safe and supportive environment. Through lessons on relationships, family life, consent, and health, students develop empathy, respect for others, and a strong sense of community. They are encouraged to understand themselves, celebrate diversity, and build positive connections with peers and society.
