Y9 classes studying Spanish at Kingsway Park High School visited ‘HOME Cinema’ in Manchester as part of the VIVA festival. It was the VIVA festivals 25th birthday of celebrating Hispanic culture across the world. While there was a wide range of films that had been considered good to watch, the students decided on watching ‘Yuli’; a true story of the famous Cuban ballerina, Carlos Acosta. It was a fantastic film showing Yuli’s difficult path to fame and his emotional relationship with his father. It was a great opportunity for the students at Kingsway Park to get a deeper insight into Cuban history and culture to support them with their GCSE studies. The students are already asking about the next Spanish film trip!
