Grade 7 (Point 25-29) TTO plus 3 weeks
Actual Salary: £26,732 to 29,745
The role of a Year Manager at Kingsway Park High School is an extremely important one. Many of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have complex social and emotional needs. We serve a wide-ranging diverse ethnic community (over 22 languages spoken in school).
The purpose of a Year Manager is to oversee and manage the pastoral and inclusive support of all of the young people in a particular year group and to ensure that as a school we meet the social, academic and emotional needs of all. It is not just about managing and dealing with challenging behaviours, the role is to lead by example and be an excellent role model for all of the students in your care. We want all of our students to be successful, achieve well and be resilient young people.
The successful candidate will join a large Pastoral Team that includes a Pastoral Lead that oversees all Year Managers as well as an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion.
Inclusion and Pastoral Support at Kingsway Park High School are exemplary and we are very proud of the inclusion, pastoral and attendance provision that we offer to all of our students. You will also be part of a large inclusion team (SEN, INA, Pastoral, attendance etc.)
The role is a very demanding one and requires someone with real resilience, determination and integrity. It is however a very rewarding role as you see students in your care, grow, develop, mature and succeed over the time that you are their Year Manager.
It’s not all about managing challenging behaviours, it’s about improving attendance and punctuality, creating a year spirit and ethos of students being proud of achieving and rewarding good behaviours, achievement and attitude.
Interpersonal skills and communication are paramount and you will be expected to deal with all levels of staff in school, parents, students and external agencies. Diplomacy and negotiation skills will also feature highly in this key post.
A Year Manager at Kingsway Park High School has to have a real passion and love of children, understand their needs and want to nurture and care for them so that they leave Kingsway Park High School as well rounded young people with manners, resilience, integrity, respect for themselves and others and a real thirst for success and life.
It is hoped that the successful candidate will initially start as Year 7 Year Manager and follow this year group through the school until Year 11.
