Dear Parents/Carers
Year 7 Parents Evening
We would like to invite you to our Hybrid Year 7 Parents Evening, on Thursday 18th May, to discuss your child’s progress and attitude to learning at Kingsway Park High School. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate your child’s successes and discuss how school and home can work together to support them to ensure they meet their potential.
As you are aware, we use an online booking system to make appointments with your child’s teachers. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers, after which, you will receive an email confirming your schedule. It is extremely important that you keep to this schedule. The following are the times allocated to each session - please book on one session only.
4.00pm – 5.00pm remote session online.
5.05pm – 6.25pm in person, at Kingsway Park High School.
Please do not arrive at the school without an appointment as this may result in you not seeing all your child’s teachers.
Should you require, you will also have the option to make an appointment with our Year 7 Manager, Ms O Worth You will be able to make your appointments from 1.00pm on Monday 8 May and the window will close on Thursday 18th May @ 4.00pm. KS4 Curriculum Choices and Y9 Parents’ Evening
At KPHS, we constantly strive to ensure that your child’s learning experience is tailored to their individual needs, aspirations, and interests. With this in mind, we are providing all Year 9 students with the opportunity to make informed choices about the GCSE or Level 1/2 subjects we are able to offer during Key Stage 4 (Year 10 & 11).
This parents evening is an opportunity to help your child make the right decisions about what they will study from September. Please support your son/daughter by reading and discussing the information in the booklet provided and the options cards that your child will receive in their VISION lessons. You may already have an idea what the subject might be like but do ask questions to find out the facts because there have been some significant changes to KS4 courses.
A good starting point is to discuss future career aspirations with your son/daughter. If they have a clear career plan, they should select subjects that complement their aspirations. However, we also understand many Y9 students may not yet have a final career aspiration in mind and this is absolutely normal; in this case, students should leave their options open and select a variety of subjects which they will really enjoy and achieve highly in.
It is important to remember the choices your son/daughter make will remain with them until the end of year 11. Please understand that it is highly unlikely we will be able to change options for students who later change their minds.
The following activities will take place from w/c 28th February.
