Nudity Alerts on Social Media

We have been alerted to serious concerns in relation to social media.

Young people are being contacted and asked to share nude images of themselves.

The male perpetrator is accessing friends lists and forwarding the received images to them. The perpetrator then uses threats  to coerce the friends to also share images of themselves.

Parents are urged to check their children’s social media regularly.

People who are made to share images are victims but it is an offence to possess and distribute images so the victim is also breaking the law by sharing.
