Letter to Parents - 4th January 2023

4th January 2023

Dear Parent/Carer

My name is Simon Ward, and I am delighted and privileged to introduce myself to you as the new Headteacher of Kingsway Park High School.

I have served the community of Rochdale for the past 12 years as Deputy Headteacher at Falinge Park High School and feel through this experience I know and understand our community well. I now have the pleasure and opportunity to continue my professional journey with the young people and families in this area, which provides me with a great sense of belonging.

It has not taken me long to recognise that Kingsway Park High School is a special place. It is proud to be a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse school that has soul and a true “family feel.” Students are valued here, and it is recognised that success looks and feels different for each one of them.

Under my care we will continue to nurture and develop the whole child while improving aspirations, learning and achievement for all regardless of their starting point, gender, ethnicity, faith or need. In addition to ensuring each student’s academic potential, we will also prepare them to be socially responsible citizens who can flourish in society and give back to their local community. We will seek to remove any barriers which prevent them from having the same opportunity as others, so that all students can aspire and be inspired to realise their dreams.

The school has recently undergone a period of transition and change resulting in my appointment. It is my privilege and honour to be entrusted with the stewardship of Kingsway Park High School, leading, and elevating the school on the next stage of its journey. I am dedicated, focused, and committed to inspiring learning and to realising our vision to create a world class learning experience for all students.

However, this is something that is not possible for any one individual. Thankfully at Kingsway Park High School we have a team of passionate, enthusiastic and committed staff who work relentlessly, day in day out, in the pursuit of excellence for the students and community we serve. Your engagement and support as parents also plays a key role in the success of your child. It is only through this commitment to collective responsibility and partnership working that we can achieve our goals together.

Finally, I felt that it would be useful for me to provide some clarity around expectations at the start of this New Year and Academic Term. These have been included below so that all students know what will be expected of them but also what they should expect from the school. There will be many opportunities throughout the year for you to come into school, meet with me and for us to form a strong link together. However, in the meantime if you have any questions or would like to come and talk to me further, please do not hesitate to contact the school at info@kingswaypark.org`
As part of our school you don’t just attend, you belong!
Yours faithfully

Mr Simon Ward
Headteacher
