Letter to Parents – dated 11 Feb 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

I wanted to write to you all this week to share that at KPHS this half term we have been dealing with an incredible range of difficult circumstances faced by many of our young people, many of which are caused or exacerbated by some of the issues we have seen during the pandemic. It has made me reflect much more precisely on the realities of the increased cost of living, the impact on children when families face financial hardship and the anxieties they feel when they know we are facing difficult times.

Our students are so intelligent and so aware – they know when their families are struggling despite all our best efforts to shield them from it, or when their friends are struggling, and it can make their own resilience waver. I want to reassure you that we are here for all of you too, because we do know that happy, thriving adults mean children will thrive too, and it is extremely hard to thrive in what are very difficult times for so many. If you are struggling in any way and would like some help, or a steer towards someone who can, please don’t suffer in silence; we will do all we can to support you.

Through all of this though, we continue to try to return to typical education where we can, with trips going out again, extra-curricular clubs running again and catch up tuition offers now set up for many. Through our partnership with the Manchester United Foundation we also now have our site available for more out-of-hours services too and we are now in a position to offer out some additional tuition via another partner of ours, Conexus Tuition , after Easter. This is a private company who can offer 2 hours of tuition here on site in the evenings, with specialists in English, Maths and Science for £32. If you are interested in accessing this for your child, please contact Mr Carey on KP-Tutoring@kingswaypark.org who can put you in touch with Conexus – if your child receives Free School Meals we can support with the cost of this too.

I will leave it there for now, have a lovely weekend,

Yours faithfully
