Dear Parent/Carer,
Unbelievably it is almost the end of term! I write to thank you as always for your support in what has been a long autumn term. The students have worked hard and tried hard throughout and I am very proud of them. Y11 in particular should feel pleased with the work they have put in so far this year – and while I know that some of them are disappointed with their early assessment grades, they must remember that they have missed a lot, and are catching up fast; they will make great progress next term if they can keep their focus and motivation.
If your child is in Y9, perhaps they are already starting to think about GCSE Options choices, and there is a Y9 Parents’ Evening early in the new term in which we will focus on this, as their decisions are important ones and we want to make sure we have worked closely with you to get the best plan in place for the students as they prepare to start KS4.
After the holiday and when we return in January, we will have added plain blue sweaters to the ParentPay app – these are well priced and practical – so that the students can have an affordable extra layer; please note that they won’t be allowed to wear anything other than plain blue jumpers though, so look out for them on ParentPay if you would like to order.
As I am sure you know, we are asked to test the students before they return to school in January, so we have made a small adjustment to the start of term which will now run as follows:
Tuesday Jan 4th – Teacher Training Day, and Y11 drop in testing in the afternoon
Wednesday Jan 5th – Y11 in school as normal; Y7-10 drop in testing all day
Thursday Jan 6th – all students in school as normal
Finally for now, to confirm that this term will finish at 12.10pm on Friday 17th December – and students are allowed to wear their own clothes on the last day, for a £1 donation to local charities as voted for at our Open Evening and requested by students in school.
As always, please get in touch if there is anything we can do, and remember to look after yourselves as well as prioritising your children; I know exactly what it is like to juggle work, school, parenthood – it can be exhausting; do let us know if there is anything we can help you with.
Yours faithfully
Mrs J Langley
Headteacher
