19th October 2022
Dear Parents/Carers,
As we come to the end of this half term, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your on-going support for the school and the students at Kingsway Park.
School will close at the normal time of 2:50pm on Friday 21st October 2022.
This half-term has seen some exciting changes, firstly the appointment of a new headteacher: Simon Ward. Simon takes up his position in January 2023 but has already visited the school introducing himself to staff and students.
The new build for Kingsway Park also begins this week and is due for completion in approximately 12 months.
Phase 1 (Below) shows the location of the new building. The green area is the site of the block being demolished and the location of the new canopy.
School Production
In other news we are also currently auditioning for our in-school production of Hairspray; the final cast list will be published on Friday 21st October 2022.
The auditions have been a great success and it has been amazing watching our young people sing, act and dance
Staffing update
At this time of year, we say goodbye to members of staff who are moving on to new posts: we wish Mr Cunliffe, Miss Cliffe and Mrs Dooley good luck in their future endeavours. We also welcome Danielle Taylor as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, she will work alongside Mrs Gaskell, our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Just a few reminders:-
Uniform
A high standard of presentation is expected of all students and school uniform must be worn at all times by students in Years 7 to 11. Pastoral staff monitor uniform as students arrive at Kingsway Park every morning, Form Tutors also conduct a uniform and equipment check each day during Tutor Group time.
Here’s a reminder of our uniform expectations: -
- Plain white shirt (long or short sleeve).
- In winter, a plain, unbranded navy V neck jumper or cardigan can be worn (No logos) this does not replace a blazer.
- Plain black pleated skirt.
- Black tights or socks.
- For students who wear a headscarf this must be plain black.
- Plain black full-length trousers (no leggings, jeggings, jeans, capri pants or flares).
- Plain black shoes (plain black ankle boots may also be worn). No trainers or sports brand shoes.
Jewellery
- 1 pair of earing studs and a watch.
- I small plain nose stud (no other facial piercings are allowed).
- Smart, professional hairstyle and colour, no extreme patterns, styles or colours.
- Natural makeup maybe worn, but no false eye lashes.
We understand that at times there can be issues with uniform that are entirely outside of parental control. Our aim will always be to work with parents when this occurs. Where a student falls short of our high expectations of presentation, we would ask parents/carers to support the school and work together to reach a positive conclusion.
Also, I hope you are aware of our recycled uniform shop. We are always seeking pre-loved donations for this all year round and if you would like to make use of the shop, please contact Miss Khan to check if we have the sizes you need - SKhan@kingswaypark.org
Punctuality
Please ensure your child is punctual to school, they must be in their tutor rooms by 8:25am or they will receive a late mark and have to complete a 20-minute detention after school. If you know your child is going to be late or absent from school, please leave a message on the school answer aching before 8:30am to prevent any safeguarding concerns.
Text Message
In accordance with our new behaviour policy, if your child receives a C3 your child will need to complete a 40-minute detention. You will be notified of this via the following text message.
Dear Parent/Carer
You child has received a C3 detention, this means they will have a catchup for 40 mins after school on (date). Detentions form part of the school’s behaviour system, so your support with this is much appreciated. Any issues completing this detention please contact reception and the detention can be rearranged.
Thank you
KPHS
