Dear Parent / Carer,
We are mindful that we are fast approaching the GCSE examination season and we are also mindful that leaving school and graduating from secondary education will be something that students are all currently considering. We are aiming to fuse exam preparation with the rites of passage celebration of ‘end of year prom’.
Our Prom will be held on the 7th July 2023 (further arrangements to follow) at the Bella Vista restaurant in Rochdale. We want to be able to celebrate our students hard work as they leave us to move on to more opportunities. In order for each child to secure an invitation to the prom, we are asking for the following:
- At least 95% attendance from Monday 17th April onwards. This will be the start of the Summer Term and the run up to the examinations.
- Any student who is sanctioned either through being placed in our internal isolation provision: Reflect, or, is suspended from school will not be eligible to take part in our prom celebration. Every single student has a ‘fresh start’ from Easter onwards and so being sanctioned from that point onwards will be an individual choice made, which will then mean that they are not invited to the prom.
- Punctuality will be very closely monitored and patterns of lateness may also result in the prom invitation being withdrawn.
We hope to be able to celebrate with all of our Year 11 students and to recognise that they all ‘belong’ to our school family. We have valued our time with them all as individuals and we sincerely hope we can celebrate their hard work and upcoming successes. Can we please ask for your co-operation in encouraging your child to look forward to what will be a memorable rites of passage event.
Please do not hesitate to contact either myself, a member of SLT or Mrs Suthers-Latif if you have any questions regarding the information above.
Thank you as ever for your support and co-operation.
Kind regards,
Simon Ward
Headteacher
