Dear Parents/Carers,
You may be aware from media coverage that teacher members in the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. These strikes are happening because of a national dispute between the union and the government over school funding and teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our school.
Although school will be closed to students of Year 7, 8 and 9, we will be opening for our Year Ten students so that their End of Year Mock exams can proceed as planned. Year Ten will have an earlier finish and leave school at 1:10pm. Students eligible for a Free School Meal will be able to pick up a packed lunch from school prior to their departure.
I’m sorry that you may have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, but we have planned these days to mitigate any disruption to our Examination Year students. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.
If you have any questions, please contact Karen Smith on email: info@kingswaypark.org
Kind regards,
Mr S Ward
Headteacher
