Letter to Parents – Strike Action – Year 7 Students

25th January 2023

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 7

You may be aware from media coverage that teacher members in the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1st February 2023. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the union and the government over teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our school.

I’m getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible about our arrangements for Wednesday 1st February 2023.

During this day Year 7 students will be participating in a walk to Hollingworth Lake for part of the day.  Please ensure your son/daughter comes to school with a waterproof coat.  They are permitted to wear walking shoes or trainers on this day.

When students are not participating in the walk to Hollingworth Lake they will be completing various activities in the school building.

Lunch will be provided in school as normal. Students can either purchase a lunch, or if entitled they will receive a free school lunch or alternatively, they may bring a packed lunch.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.

If you have any questions, please contact Karen Smith on email:  info@kingswaypark.org

Kind regards,

Simon Ward
Headteacher
