PE KS4 (Y10 & 11)

Overall Curriculum Goals

Through Core PE at Key Stage 4 students will build on their Key Stage 3 experiences to: 
1.  Tackle complex and demanding physical activities. 
2.  Take part in a wide range of activities that develop fitness and promote healthy and active lifestyles. 
3.  Students can also take part in competitive sports and activities outside school through community links or sports clubs. 

Activities Covered throughout the year:

  • CPR training and basic First Aid Training (Year 10)
  • Individual and team sports (rounders, cricket, softball, athletics football, rugby, handball, hockey, basketball, badminton, table tennis)
  • Outdoor & Adventurous Activities (climbing)
  • Creative performance (trampolining, dance)
  • Key Content / Skills:  

  • Consolidate and apply the different tactics and strategies involved
  • Reflect and discuss possible outcomes of different tactical approaches
  • Set plays, creating overloads, and consolidating positional understanding
  • Consolidate the laws of the game
  • Develop understanding of the importance of self-care and the benefits that being active and taking part in regular exercise can have on physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • Employability, Professionalism and Enterprise  (EPE) Links

  • Further develop communication and teamwork skills
  • Improve analytical & evaluation skills
  • Enhance higher level skills, such as creative thinking, problem-solving and decision-making
