Topic Intent:

This module will teach students to talk and write about where they live and an introduction to food and recipes. These are topics that are accessible to all students, and they will feel comfortable talking about them. Student will learn basic vocabulary to talk/write about themselves. Teachers will build students’ confidence in working out the meaning of new words and pronunciation building on previous modules. Students have already seen the near future tense at the end of Y7. This module also links to theme 2 at GCSE.

Topic Intent:

We study Michel Thomas method at KPHS as it has proven to build linguistic confidence. It highlights links between French and English, building literacy in both languages. It also develops recall of key verbs and expressions and translation skills.

Topic Intent: 

In this module students will learn about the capital of France and build their cultural capital. They will be introduced to the perfect past tense for the first time – a core tense when communicating in a foreign language.  They will also learn some basic questions and answers that they could use in planning a trip to a French tourist attraction. As with all modules, teachers will build students’ confidence in working out the meaning of new words and pronunciation building on previous modules. This topic links to Theme 2 at GCSE and role-plays.

At KPHS, our motto is ‘Aspire, Learn, Achieve’, this module gives students to look at what they aspire to in the future and what they wish to achieve through their studies. It also looks at the importance of speaking multiple languages in the world of work. This module also links to theme 4 at GCSE.

Topic Intent:

The Spanish project aims to inspire learners of the places that learning Spanish can take them and to expand their global view. Students will continue to build their ability to give and justify their opinions in Spanish on cultural aspects such as music and food.  They will build on their ability to work out the meaning of new words through understanding tourist information. This project also links to theme 2 at GCSE.
