Topic Intent:

Student will learn basic vocabulary to talk/write about themselves. This will consolidate any work and correct errors from what could have possibly been covered in Primary school (if the student previously studied Spanish). The aim of this module is to consolidate any work that could have been covered in KS2 and to teach this content to the students who didn’t study Spanish at KS2.  Students will also be ‘trained’ in the pedagogy of how we do speaking/listening/reading/writing in an MFL lesson. Teachers will build students’ confidence in working out the meaning of new words and pronunciation, starting to build the ethos that at KPHS, we are positive about learning languages, resilient and enjoy ‘giving something a go’ without the fear of failure. The basic grammar constructions of gender and adjectival agreement will be introduced as examples of our languages are grammatically diverse.

Topic Intent:

We study Michel Thomas method at KPHS as it has proven to build linguistic confidence. It highlights links between French and English, building literacy in both languages. It also develops recall of key verbs and expressions and translation skills.

Topic Intent:

School is a big part of your life at the age of 11/12 years and therefore it is an important area to be able to talk about. Teachers will build students’ confidence in working out the meaning of new words and pronunciation building on previous modules. Students have already seen basic opinion verbs in Enrich 1. The basic grammar constructions of giving opinions with basic justifications will be introduced. This module also links to theme 3 at GCSE.
