Topic Intent:

PORTRAITURE

Students will investigate a range of artists that focus on Portraiture in their work. Students will take inspiration from this work and then continue to build up their own primary bank of images which can be drawn, painted or printed.

Students will work in their sketchbook which will be submitted at the end of the course as 60% of the entire GCSE.

Each student will get a choice of topic for their exam in which they will then independently investigate/experiment with artist research, techniques, processes and create final outcomes.

AO1 - Artist investigation – Burton Morris, Georgina Luck, Mark Powell, Loui Jover, Roy Lichtenstein, Marion Bolognesi.

AO2 – Experimentation with materials and techniques

AO3 – Analysing, annotation and recording ideas.

AO4 - Personal responses. This can be final outcomes or drawings/paintings and 3D work that students have created based on their own ideas.

Students are introduced to contemporary artists and crafts people who are working in the United Kingdom and around the world in the creative industries.

Students have opportunities to go on trips during the course, looking at contemporary and modern artists who have inspired the creative world.
