Kingsway Park High School is proud of the great success we have recently experienced with the Bronze Arts Award entries.
All year 7 students took part in the award throughout the year. Although restricted because of the pandemic, students explored the four aspects of the award. They produced their own arts work; reviewed a piece of theatre; researched their arts inspiration and shared their skill with another.
The students particularly enjoyed creating their own art work.
‘I enjoyed Part A. It was fun making my initial and other people also loved it. It was really amazing to do the Arts Award.’ Anisah said: ‘I enjoyed Part A and D because I like drawing and designing costumes and found enjoyment teaching my classmate to draw a costume’.
Ms Crook, the leader of Year 7 Vision and arts adviser, along with Mrs Phillips, also an arts adviser, assessed all of the work. This was followed by external moderators coming to school. The moderators were extremely complimentary concerning the number of students entered, with the majority of students obtaining the award.
The award entries were funded by school and Trinity College.
Well done to Year 7!
We hope to have an awards ceremony in September for parents/ carers and members of the local arts community.
Next year, it is hoped that students will be able to participate in the award through extra-curricular activities.
