In year 8 homework will be set twice per scheme of learning.
One homework will be an active listening task that relates to the piece of music being studied.
This homework will be set following the lesson that introduces the stimulus piece. Students will
have one week to complete this task.
At a variable mid-point in the scheme of learning, students will be taught a key theoretical
concept, often related to musical notation. This will be followed by a piece of homework that
explores or embeds the theoretical idea. Students will have one week to complete this task.
Students who fail to complete the homework by the following lesson will be given an
opportunity to hand the homework in the following morning. Failure to do so will result in a
departmental catch-up where the homework will be completed.
Students who complete homework to an exceptional standard will be rewarded via the school
