I am writing just to let you know that we remain very proud of all our KPHS students at this time; they are attending their lessons, completing work and keeping in touch with great optimism and perseverance. On site we have some very hard working young people who are coping so well with the different routines – and of course I want to add that our staff have continued to go above and beyond as they always do.
You are no doubt watching for updates as we all are in relation to what the plan for be for Y11 grades this summer, when there will be a return to school and what will happen in terms of the vaccine roll out. I understand how hard it is not to have absolute clarity – and for Y11 in particular I have huge sympathy. I can say that there is a consultation open here:
If you would like to contribute you can do so until the end of next week – my responses have covered my concerns about the wellbeing of the students themselves who have not always had a clear message and very much need one now – but I would add that if you have a child in Y11, even though the uncertainty is hard, if they keep attending lessons, keep giving it their all, then they will be in the best position possible no matter what happens.
I am afraid we are no closer to being sure when children will return to school, but I can say that we are following all guidance in preparation, including having our own testing provision up and running (though naturally this affects only small numbers of us at the moment, it will be a challenge if and when we have everybody back in!).
If you are in a priority vaccine group, or know someone who is and are awaiting contact for an appointment, the message is that you will be contacted soon – and I want to add again here that if you are struggling in any way with what is happening at the moment, or just need a bit of support, please contact us here at KPHS – if we can help, we will always do so!
