As we reach the end of this half term – in which the overwhelming majority of our provision has been online instead of on site – I want to say a huge well done to all of you, and all of the students. This has been a period of extraordinary adaptation and resilience and to have come through it as well we have is incredible. I know it has not been easy. I want to thank parents of Y9 in particular this week, as they have now almost all taken part in the options process – online no less – and we could not be more proud of the way they have engaged in it.
Despite the fact that we have been operating differently, we have been working hard to make plans for our future – both in the short term, when we begin to return after this lockdown period, and in the longer term, and I do want to let you know that we are now opening a consultation phase about whether or not KPHS should become an academy, and join with Rochdale Sixth Form College in the Altus Education Partnership. I am sure many of you will know that most schools in Rochdale have become academies now, and I have looked in detail at a number of options for KPHS as it is important that we consider acting only in the interests of our students and out community. In this case I believe that the opportunities available for KPHS students if we join Altus are positive and as such I would ask you to look at the launch letter on our website here, which gives you some more detail and explains how you can take part in the consultation itself.
Finally from me for this week I want to let you know that we have sent out some half term activity packs to try to help the students beat the boredom next week. This is not school work, but some of what is in there may well be helpful to them if they find the time to have a go. Do tell the students from me that they have done brilliantly this half term – they deserve a break! We are back online from Monday 22nd, usual time!
