Dear Parent/Carer,

I am so sorry that so many of you are now inconvenienced by the closure of bubbles at Kingsway. We have seen a very high case rate in the last week and not all are linked to each other, meaning several separate closures and I think it likely there are still some more to come. I am very aware of how frustrating this is and very much looking forward to some new guidance which would help us to manage things differently!

The terribly sad thing is that the students themselves remain keen to be in school and I know how well you all do at home at making them aware of the importance of learning – but I also know this is stressful for you so I do hope we will have a way of avoiding this for September.

I do want to thank you for your support of course, the staff here know we have parents who value education and work hard to try and keep students learning even at home and we all appreciate that.

END OF TERM

We are approaching the end of term and I did promise the students some time ago that they could have an early finish on Friday 16th July. I also agreed that they could wear non-uniform on the last day too, as long as their clothing is respectable and appropriate.

So – we will be finishing at 12o’clock on Friday 16th July, and students are allowed to wear non-uniform clothing on that day only. Until then, they should be in full uniform as always.

Next Year:

As you know we are proceeding with our plans to academize and join Altus; this is not going to happen before September however and we are not proposing any uniform or name change so we will proceed with this at some point during the next school year and I will keep you up to date with this as it happens.

On which note, you can find our term dates for next year on our website in the Parent section under “School Holidays” – or by clicking here: https://kingswaypark.org/parents__students/school-holidays/

If you are planning to travel abroad, please be mindful of the need to factor in any quarantine times if required – and a quick reminder that we are going to allow only Y7 in on the first day of Term (Monday 6th) for their “transition day”, with Y8-11 joining them on Tuesday 7th. More details will be sent out about the timings and entrances nearer the time.

The nearer we get to the end, the more important it is to avoid students coming in with any covid-symptoms as a closure now would mean students missing sports day and the last day etc. Please keep them home if they are unwell, and let us know. For now, thank you as always – you have borne the weight of this very challenging year with us with patience and with absolute loyalty to the students – I so hope we can have a positive end to the year with all the students.

Yours faithfully,
