Having just written to say how proud I am of our young people, I find myself having to write again after we had a challenging end of the school day today. I am aware the students are discussing what might have gone wrong; to be clear there was no incident in school, no weapons in school and specifically no knife incident.
As you will know, a number of young people from several secondary schools came to KPHS after school today, Monday 14/06/21 looking for some of our students because of their perception that they had slighted them in some way. We held our students back while we made sure they would be safe to leave, called police for support and we now know who is involved and why. I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience to you while we delayed the end of our day, but the safety of our young people was paramount – thank you for your patience and support.
I want to say two things:
I am liaising with police in regards to all those involved tonight and we will pursue legal remedy where we can to ensure the safety of our young people. Where you know your child is associating with people who put them at risk, please work with us to avoid them becoming vulnerable themselves.
Finally, can I thank you for your continued support and for the kind words and thanks many of you gave to the staff as we managed the situation this evening to keep the children safe.
