I write today slightly overwhelmed with pride in our KPHS team – staff, students and parents! Having such a smooth return on Wednesday is to your enormous credit – the students had their uniforms on correctly (a few hoodies still with some logos which I would prefer were not there, but not many!) – they had their face masks on and they came in beautifully.
We have now put in place a new timetable which reduces the size of the bubbles, so that if and when there is a positive case, the number of students who are asked to isolate is reduced, in most cases by more than two-thirds – however, as you can imagine, changing the timetable in itself means the students have had to adapt slightly – and once again they have done so with patience and understanding.
Y11 have been extraordinary in their resilience in particular, as I release there is still uncertainty for them. If your child is in Y11, we will be in touch soon to give you a clearer idea of how they will be assessed, but again, for now, we are concentrating on getting them back into the swing of learning so that their confidence returns and they are in the best position to be successful.
If I can make a couple of requests they would be these: Firstly, please don’t send the children into school with any covid symptoms (persistent cough, temperature, shortness of breath) – or if someone in the household has them. Instead, book a test! Secondly, if there have been any difficult circumstances you have faced in this lockdown that we are not aware of, please get in touch to let us know so we can help.
We are now handing out the home self-test kits to those who completed their on-site testing earlier this week, with instructions – if you have any questions on this please get in touch and we will do our best.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs J Langley
