Dear Parent/Carer,

Just a couple of updates for you:

Firstly, from tonight (5th October) we will not be allowing any vehicles onto our site at the end of the school day at all, as the situation has become so challenging for staff to manage safely.

While the overwhelming majority are lovely to us and supportive of staff here, there have been occasions where people have driven onto site and caused blockages when we need to ensure students with medical needs can get off site safely and when asked to move are causing some conflict. Naturally I cannot allow this and must make some changes. From today, students with a medical pass for collection by vehicle at the end of the day will be able to leave from our gate on Stiups Lane – you will be contacted directly if this applies to your child and you can meet them there by car. No other students will leave this way, they will leave as normal – and I am asking all parents not to drive onto site at the end of the day – nor to send Taxis this way. We simply do not have the space and as you know, getting everyone home safely is already hard for us given the location of our site. I am working on ways to address this – but there are many factors beyond our control and the only thing I can do at the moment is to ask for your help in making sure the end of the school day is safe and that we respect our neighbours too. At the moment the situation is easier in the mornings so we will continue with drop off as normal in the mornings for now.

Secondly, a quick reminder that students will be finishing early on Thursday this week (7th) so that we can prepare for Open Evening – a large number of our fabulous KPHS students are joining us anyway for Open Evening to help us run a great event, so thank you also for this! There will be staff to support with drop off/pick up and parking… (!)

I hope you are all well and coping with what is pretty unpredictable weather at the moment – and thank you to all of you making sure the students are on time, in uniform and in a good frame of mind for learning even while fuel crises get in the way!

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Langley
