I write as always to thank you for your support, and also for your patience as we are seeing an increase in cases within the younger age bracket at the moment and that is resulting in bubble closures again. I know how frustrating it is – and in many cases, positive cases occur where there are no symptoms and as such some closures will always be unavoidable – but please can I remind you of the expectation that students DO NOT come in to school if they have any of the following symptoms:
Additionally, please do not send the students in if they have a positive test result – or are awaiting a test result. I am so sorry – it does not come naturally to me to say that it is ok not to send students in to school! But in these circumstances, if there is a chance they may be positive, please keep them home until it is known they are not.
I have to say that I am proud of our students this half term, they are maintaining concentration in class and trying hard. This has been an extremely unsettled year for them and yet they come in every day and makes us smile!
With regret we have had to cancel our Y6 Induction day this year in line with other local schools. As a result of this I have become concerned that our new Y7s will not have had the best experience possible at this crucial time for them and have decided that we will in fact run a Y7-only day at the start of the autumn term. This means that Y7 only will join us on Monday 6th September 2021, and all other year groups will start the year on Tuesday 7th September 2021 – more details will follow, of course.
We have also taken the decision to change our PE kit for next year, which you may already know – it is a cheaper kit which should help in the long term, (and you can use existing kit during next year if you prefer) – but we also recognise that there may be particular financial pressures on you now as a result of covid, among other things. As such we are sending all our families a £50 voucher to support with uniform costs for every child.
Finally for now, as hard as it is, please keep following the guidance – and I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
