Year 6 Transition Letter

April 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

On behalf of the staff at Kingsway Park High School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child. May I take this opportunity to introduce you to the Transition Team:

 Assistant Headteacher                  Mrs L Clarke

Transition Leaders                         Mrs J Carey, Mrs C Eaton-Caswell, Ms M Mead

Head of Year 7

Personal Tutors

At least one member of the Transition Team will visit your child at their primary school during the Spring/Summer term. The staff will speak to both your child and his/her teachers. Various topics will be discussed with the children, including general organisation, uniform, behaviour expectations, homework, attendance, equipment, lunchtimes and extra-curricular activities.

Please note, once the visits have been completed, your child will be put into a mixed ability tutor group. This process takes two weeks as all the information gathered from the primary schools and parents/carers is taken into consideration.

We look forward to meeting you at our ‘Welcome Evening’ for new students on 28 June. Doors will open at 6.00pm for a prompt 7.00pm start.

On arrival, please take note of your child’s allocated tutor group. The tutor lists will be displayed on the windows of the restaurant and will include the following information:

  • Name of the Personal Tutor
  • Tutor Number
  • Tutor room (only for this evening)
  • Venue for 7pm (Tutor Room, Hall or Sports Hall)

The format of the evening will be:

  • Welcome introduction by the Headteacher, Mrs J Langley
  • Transition information from the Head of Year
  • Opportunity to meet your child’s Personal Tutor
  • Transition Day information and bus information
  • Opportunity to view the Kingsway Park uniform and P.E kit

We believe that your child’s education is a joint responsibility of the school and home. We would like to establish firm links between home and school as soon as we possibly can. Together we can encourage your child to make the most of their opportunities, enabling them to become confident, aspiring young people.

Please make every effort to attend the evening and I shall look forward to meeting you on the 28 June. In the meantime, if you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to email me at school  Lclarke@kingswaypark.org

Yours faithfully

Mrs L Clarke
